Raiders WR Javon Walker was found unconscious with an "orbital fracture" on Flamingo Boulevard just off the Las Vegas strip early Monday morning. He was the victim of an apparent robbery.
It sounds like he got punched and robbed. There's no saying if it was a simple mugging or a fight. My guess is the robber saw all the diamonds and decided to take them. Too bad for the Raiders. Walker was already out of shape. Now he'll need to recover from the skull fracture before hitting the gym again.
Updating previous reports, David White, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports Oakland Raiders rookie RB Darren McFadden received $19.685 million in guaranteed money in his rookie deal. However, that number could reach $26 million if McFadden reaches any one of a long list of minimal performance standards during any year within his contract.
That is a great contract for the Raiders considering the price of those early picks so far.
John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden agreed to terms on a six-year contract Thursday, June 5, worth $60 million. The deal includes $26 million guaranteed.
That has got to be a record time for the Raiders. It also doesn't appear to be a horrible deal considering all the pressure we were under due to the way Atlanta handled the pick right in front of ours..
The Associated Press reports the Oakland Raiders have told RB LaMont Jordan to stay away from the team's practice facilities as they attempt to trade him or release him. "We're exploring a couple of different options," head coach Lane Kiffin said. "We're in communication with him. He was here this morning. We're just keeping him off the field. ... The last thing we want to do for him or ourselves is for LaMont to come out here and get hurt today."
So we've seen the last of Jordan. That's been in the cards for awhile. It is unfortunate to see another failed FA move for our squad.
Raiders offensive line coach Tom Cable is reportedly convinced that Kwame Harris can be "the ideal left tackle."
Now that is the endorsement I've been looking for. It's been a really long time since we've had a left tackle worth a darn. If Cable can fix Harris we will have really done well this off season.
