Mike Williams Gone

Kelly to IR with torn ACL

Kelly_action1 Raiders DE Tommy Kelly will undergo surgery on a torn ACL. He will miss the rest of the season. Our most versatile defensive lineman is gone. This does not bode well for our defense that relies on pressure from the front four. That's two starters injured if you include Warren and Burgess still recovering from his calf injury.

That last drop was your last... Mike Williams dropped

Williams_mike Raiders waived WR Mike Williams. That drive killing drop at the end of the Titans game was his last. He won't be missed because we have a glut of possession receivers on our roster. What we need is a speed receiver.... entrance Tim Dwight.

Russell Isn't Yet Answer for Raiders

Time for Russell

Russell_070207 It seems to me that it's time to bring JaMarcus in off the bench. After watching McCown dink-and-dunk during the first weeks of play it looked like we couldn't get worse with Culpepper. Now Culpepper has been looking horrid. Yesterday's game was ugly offensively. I found myself yelling at the TV, "Throw the ball!" Culpepper would just sit back there waiting for something to open up while Sims got burned on one side by an edge rusher and McQuistan got burned around the other edge. And that didn't count the times that the middle of our line completely collapsed. Seeing a DT about to sack the QB before he is even able to hand off the ball is not cool at all. In any case, watching Culpepper back there isn't fun and we might as well give the kid a shot against the Texans. It's better than throwing him out there against a power house defense.

Climbing the depth chart...

Jamarcusrusselloaklandraid
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Friday that JaMarcus Russell has passed Andrew Walter on the depth chart at quarterback.  Even better, if McCown is hurt this week, he'll be our main backup to Culpepper.  Well it looks like we get to cash in a bit on our 60M man.

McCown back at practice...

MaskDespite Josh McCown's return to a complete practice Wednesday, Daunte Culpepper took snaps with the Raiders' first-team offense.  It looks like McCown has a week to wait before he gets back in the lineup.  Culpepper is on a short leash.
